The benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) are in - creasingly recognized for applications operating in some of the most demanding environments. AI has enabled decision-making processes that help optimize the use of time, energy, and valu- able resources, among other advantages. Ensur- ing reliable and optimal AI performance in such conditions necessitates connectivity that can endure these challenging environments contin- uously over extended periods without failure at critical moments. Connectivity, whether wired or wireless, is evolving to meet the rising demand for AI integration within existing systems. These developments are being implemented through emerging technologies, design considerations, and new applications requiring robust and rug- ged connectors. Emerging materials and technologies This is an exciting period for connector develop- ment, as the emergence of bio-based materials offers manufacturers the opportunity to reduce their dependence on fossil fuel-derived plastics. Bio-based plastics are designed to perform identically to traditional materials, facilitating seamless substitution. The adoption of bio- based plastics contributes to a reduction in the product carbon footprint (PCF), representing a significant initial step towards the broader objective of achieving net-zero manufacturing.
