power, signal, and data. M17 hybrid connectors that comply with this international IEC standard are now available. From a special solution to the standard Geopolitical and market developments have made future viability and the choice of inventory through standardized products significantly more important. Standardized products offer clear advantages over customer-specific solutions, allowing similar interfaces across a breadth of suppliers. To eliminate the risk of dependency on just one supplier, a new IEC standard for large circular connectors (M17–M40) has been developed. Traditionally, machine and system cabling usually involved separate cables: one for the power supply and another for the transmission of signals and data. However, this classic two-cable solution is bulky and difficult to install. M17 hybrid connectors can solve these issues. Single-cable solutions have become more common over the past decade. Until recently, however, these have mostly been proprietary systems that don’t allow compatibility between different manufacturers. With new standards and streamlined designs in the industry, the demand for compact, intelligent field devices is growing. These devices require adaptable, condensed, and high-performance connection technology, which is where the M17 hybrid connectors come in. Following the trend – and yet one step ahead New M17 hybrid connectors simultaneously transmit data, signal, and power in compliance with the new IEC 61076-2-117 standard. The connector uses a standardized interface allowing minimum loss of material use, space reduction with the connector footprint, and condensing connections while maintaining full functionality.
In addition to the standardized pin connector pattern, M17 hybrid connectors can provide further advantages. The connection threads also follow the new standard. M17 hybrid connectors with a fast-locking system can enable safe and fast cabling in the field. In addition to the standardized pin connector pattern, M17 hybrid connectors include new connection threads that follow the new standard. This includes a fast-locking system that reduces connection time by 70% and enables safe and fast cabling in the field. It also simplifies service. Power contacts with touch protection enable the safe use of pin and socket inserts in both field and device connectors. This makes it possible to daisy-chain the wiring and to reduce the cabling and installation work considerably, while maintaining safe guidelines.
Daisy-chain wiring: all housings suitable for male and female contacts. Connectors with colored and mechanical coding can prevent the mismatching of the 50 V (type 2B, IEC 61076- 2-117) and 630 V versions (type 2, IEC 61076-2-117). This increases safety and simplifies mounting.
